My senior thesis from my time at Alfred State, "Trials of a Knight". This 2D animation follows the titular knight as he challenges the oldest of knight trials: Saving a princess from a dragon. But perhaps it's too much for him to handle.
Below are steps of the process to creating "Trials of a Knight", including storyboards
Beat Boards
The Beat Boards from early in pre-production showcase some changes ultimately made to the final product. "Trials" originally had a few more characters in its repertoire.

Characters
The Knight went through the most design iterations of the cast. Originally sporting a tunic and cape look, I eventually altered the design down to a full plate armor look to give him a more "experienced" look.
The Princess design was slightly altered to give her a more solid attitude from that first look.
The design of the Dragons reflects their threat level. An angry red and harsh angles on the Big Dragon to make it a immediate threat, while the lush green and soft edges make the Small Dragon appear playful and approachable.
